101 in 1001

Instead of making New Year’s Resolutions this year, make and achieve goals…101 goals to be exact.  And the best thing about it? You can set these goals anytime, not just at New Years.  I spent a long time thinking of goals that are meaningful and pertinent to my life.  I know it’s a long list…you may give up half way through.  I’m posting it to hold myself accountable and keep it well organized…and any cheering or support from you is a bonus.  A HUGE BONUS.  :)

The Mission:
Complete 101 goals in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria:
The goals must be specific with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined.

Why 1001 Days?
1001 days (about 2.75 years) allows you several seasons to complete tasks, which is better for organizing and timing things like overseas trips or outdoor activities.  And…let’s be realistic…I need the time.  =)

  1. Lori I loved this! I thought wearing red lipstick was a funny goal, but it inspired me at the same time. Sometimes when I think of goals they always have to be big and I forget to look at the simple goals I can accomplish like wearing red lipstick. You are and amazing mother and woman I’ll be cheering you on!

    • Thanks Misty! I’ll take all the cheering I can get. =) Sometimes, you have to throw in something easy and fun that you always forget to do…like wearing red lipstick. I’m glad you liked it. May be we should pick a day to both do it and swap photos. Anyone else in?

  2. I loved this! My favorite one was to get a pedicure every other month :) Maybe I’ll have to make that goal and join you…I also loved “Have Baby #3!” :P

This is huge! I’ll be cheering you on as well.

    • I know! My stomach dropped a little when I published it. Now, there’s no turning back. ;) I thought you would like the Utah trip…I made it for you and all of the other family members in Utah. Well, and for us too. :)

  3. I love the way you have set your goals out! I am only just starting the 101 in 1001 days also so would love to follow along with your progress. The chocolate croissants sound amazing!

    • Thanks Rachal. I checked out your list too and left you a comment. It will be fun to do it side-by-side. I’ll definitely blog about my attempt to make chocolate croissants. Keep checking back to make sure I hold up my end of the bargain. :)

  4. Hey Lori! How funny. I’m working on my resolutions list and found that it would be better to set goals for every 3 months. I’m still back and forth on my list but it has been very enlighting to find this post to give me some light.

    • Hi Evelyn, I agree with you. Setting goals every 3 months would be great too. Either I need a long time to achieve difficult goals or less time to achieve good habit forming goals. What did you decide on?

  5. This is a great, inspiring list. It reminds me of a goals list I made when I started university. The really neat thing is I accomplished so many of those life goals and so many more besides! Will you link to any posts of the goals you have accomplished (the ones you’ve crossed out?) (Curious about the curriculum…)

    • I finally corrected the typos in the curriculum and posted it next to the crossed out goal. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll add other links as I get to blogging about them. :)

  6. I love the goals you set. So many of them are things that I would love to do, also. Especially wearing red lipstick! :) I may “borrow” some of your suggestions for my list. I’m going to add “exercise every day, in some big or small way” to my list.

    • I’m glad you liked the list. You are welcome to borrow as many items as you want. I wish I could include “exercise everyday” on my list, but I know I’d fail that fast. ;) I’m thinking of posting a day where we can all wear red lipstick. Might be fun to include photos of all of us doing it. What do you think?

  7. I love this idea! Seems more realistic than a New Years Resolution. Sometimes we forget the smaller achievements in our busy lives.

    • Thanks Carmen! And thank you for reminding me to update it and work on getting more of my goals accomplished. I’ve been bad lately about it. :)

  8. Probably because I’m an aspiring nurse midwife but #62 sure stands out! Best wishes to you and your family and I hope you meet all your goals! (BTW, I still enjoy reading your posts, even though you don’t “hear” from me as much.)

    Happy New Year,

  9. Thank you for sharing your goals. I just created some goals, but like another reader commented they are always BIG. It’s so nice to see you treasure the small ones. You’ve inspired me to create another list with a longer timeframe. I also think it’s great to track your progress on your blog. It helps with the organization. I will do this, too. Thank you.

    • Hey Asia! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I think you need easy accomplishments to give you that little push to overcome the harder goals. I hope the longer timeline helps you out too. And, yes, keeping track of it on my blog has helped a ton!

  10. Hi Lori, I just saw this list from you post from today.

Goal that sounds funny: #81, and how you’ve handed 1 of 5 things off, and your giving yourself 2 years to accomplish this, HAhaaa. ; )

  11. This is a great idea! Thanks for the inspiration. I am so glad I found your blog. I’ve got a one-year-old that I’m planning on homeschooling (well, homeschooling right now actually :) Montessori-style and I really appreciate you sharing your experiences and ideas.
